Canary Wharf is the easiest district in London to do business from, and since the arrival of the Elizabeth line, one of the easiest to reach. Here is how to make a working week there actually work.

The short answer

Stay in the Wharf itself rather than commuting in. You gain the hour most visitors lose each way, the towers and their meeting rooms are minutes from your door, and the riverside is genuinely pleasant once the day ends. For anything longer than two nights, a serviced apartment beats a hotel on both cost and sanity.

Getting there and around

• From Heathrow: the Elizabeth line runs direct, roughly 45 minutes to Canary Wharf without a change.
• From the City: the Jubilee line makes Bank-to-Wharf a ten-minute hop.
• On foot: offices, restaurants and the mall network all sit within a fifteen-minute walk of each other, much of it under cover.

The working week, done well

A few habits that separate a good Wharf week from a grinding one:

• Breakfast in, not queued for. Every residence has a full kitchen; the supermarkets under the towers deliver.
• Run the river. The Thames Path loops towards Limehouse one way and Greenwich the other, flat, lit, and spectacular at 6am.
